Date formatting

Post by Jodie C on 2016-10-18, 17:04

Does anyone have knowledge of formatting dates in Excel 2016- specifically issues with regional formatting?
I've come across some data sets with dates recorded in mm/dd/yyyy which excel of course can't accept as dates in my current settings.
I've changed windows regional settings so excel recognises dates, but can't get them then into yyyy/mm/dd.

Any help, greatly appreciated,

Thanks

For my own sake in future, and for anyone else who may need it, this works for me...

(For converting dates in US format ie. 6/22/2015 to 2015/6/22)

Open csv in Notepad++
Cntrl + h
Select "regular expression" as search mode
Find what: ([0-9]{1,2})/+([0-9]{2})/+([0-9]{4})
Replace with: $3/$1/$2
